Todos os anos celebra-se na escola da Maria o Dia Internacional. Todas as diferentes nacionalidade fazem-se representar apresentando as tradições dos seus países. Há muita comida, bebida, música e animação.

Portugal far-se-á representar, entre outras coisas, com o nosso galo de Barcelos! Este ano decidi fazê-los mais simples aproveitando os padrões de tecidos que em muito se aproximam com as pinturas originais do nosso galo!!!

Every year in Marias´s school is celebrated the International Day. All the different nationalities  represented  show the traditions of their countries. There are lots of food, drink, music and animation.Portugal will be represented, among other things, with our Barcelos´s rooster! This year I decided to make them simply taking advantage of fabrics patterns that are very close to the original paintings of our rooster!

Outro quilt terminado... desta vez para celebrar o nascimento da Sara!

O projecto foi retiado da revista Quiltmania (Hors-série Enfants 2011). É um quilt chamado Panier de Chats e foi realizado por Buttons & Bees. É uma coberta para cama de bebé com as medidas finais de 90x113 cm.

O projecto da revista é em tons de azul e laranja, eu realizei-o em tons rosa.

Another quilt finished ... this time to celebrate the birth of Sara!
The project was in the magazine Quiltmania (Hors-series Enfants 2011). It is a quilt called "Panier de Chats" was conducted by Buttons & Bees. It is a quilt to a baby bed with the final measures of 90x113 cm.

The design of the magazine is in blue and orange, I realized it in pink.

Terminei o quilt para o meu pai. Não é fácil fazer um quilt masculino, as cores foram pensadas bem como a sua combinação. Optei pelo azul e cinzento com alguns apontamentos em castanho e vermelho. É composto por quadrados de 5 1/2 " x 5 1/2 " e finalizado com uma barra azul escura de 6 ". No final o resultado foi bastante satisfatório. Pessoalmente gosto muito e espero que o meu pai também goste!

I finished the quilt for my father. It is not easy to make a quilt male, the colors were thought as well as their combination. I chose blue and gray with some notes in brown and red. It consists of squares 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" and finished with a dark blue bar of 6 ". In the end the result was very satisfactory. Personally I love and I hope my dad likes it!

Faz algum tempo que não publico nada. A verdade é que tenho estado a trabalhar em projectos mais demorados (quilts). Hoje decidi colocar os quilts de lado e fazer um projecto simples e útil. Aqui deixo-vos um tutorial de uma bolsa para Kindle.

For some time now I do not publish anything. The truth is that I have been working on long projects and complicated  (quilts). Today I decided to put the quilts away and make a simple and useful project. Here I leave you a Kindle pocket tutorial.

Materiais:
- Tecido exterior (5 1/2" x 14 1/2")
- Forro (5 1/2" x 14 1/2")
- Enchimento (5 1/2" x 14 1/2")
- Tira para fecho (7 1/2" x 1 1/2")
- Fecho magnético

Materials:
 - Outer fabric (5 1/2 "x 14 1/2")
- Lining (5 1/2 "x 14 1/2")
- Volume Interfacing (5 1/2 "x 14 1/2")
- Strap closure (7 1/2 "x 1 1/2")
- Magnetic closure

1- Cortar tecido exterior, forro e enchimento com as medidas indicadas.
1 - Cut outer fabric, lining and volume interfacing with the measures indicated.

2 - O enchimento que utilizei é termocolante (Vilena H640 7 Fliselina H640). Neste caso deverá colocar-se a parte colante do enchimento com o avesso do tecido exterior e passar a ferro que que a mesma cole ao tecido. Caso não utilize enchimento termocolante passe à fase seguinte.

2 - The fusible  interfacing  that I  used is (Fliselina H640 Vilena H640). In this case you should put the sticky part of the filling with the wrong side of the outer fabric and iron it. If you do not use fusible  interfacing  pass to the next stage.

3 - Fazer a tira do fecho. Cortar um pedaço do tecido exterior com as medidas 7 1/2" x 1 1/2". Juntar o direito do tecido, dobrar ao meio e centrar o fecho magnético. Coser à volta deixando uma abertura no topo.

3 - Making the strip closure. Cut a piece of outer fabric with the measures 7 1/2 "x 1 1/2". Add the right fabric together, fold in half and center the magnetic closure. Sewing around leaving an opening at the top.

4- Colocar os direitos do tecido exterior e do forro juntos e sobrepor o enchimento (caso não tenha utilizado o enchimento termocolante). Numa extremidade colocar a tira do fecho e na outra centrar a outra parte do fecho.

4 - Put the rights sides of the outer fabric and lining together and overlap the interfacing (if you have not used the fusible interfacing ). In one end place of the closure strip and in the other end center the other part of magnetic closure.

5- Coser a toda à volta deixando apenas uma abertura para virar do direito.

5 - Sew all around leaving only an opening to turn right.

6 - Virar do direito. Coser a abertura deixada. Coser as laterais com ponto cobertor.

6 - Turn right. Sew the opening left. Sew the sides with manual running-stitch.

Uma Feliz Páscoa para todos!!

Mesmo longe de casa e estando a morar num pais ortodoxo, onde o dia de Páscoa não é coincidente com o dia de Páscoa católico, tentamos celebrar as nossas festividades! E tentamos sempre manter vivas as nossas tradições. Ontem fiz um folar (o bolo tradiconal da Páscoa em Portugal) e fiz uns ovos de gelatina...um pequeno divertimento para as crianças!

Even away from home and living in a orthodox country, where the day of Easter is not coincident with the Catholic Easter day, we try to celebrate our festivities! And we always try to keep alive our traditions. Yesterday I made a folar (the cake tradiconal Easter in Portugal) and some jelly eggs ... a little fun for the kids!

Folar da Pascoa é um pão simbólico para a celebração Páscoa, e são tradicionais em vários países europeus, com católicos, cristãos ortodoxos. Existem várias versões diferentes, mas todos parecem ter como tema comum uma cruz, ou a forma de cruz, como representação  da crucificação de Cristo. E muitas vezes, envolve um ou dois ovos, representando o renascimento ou a fertilidade.

Folar da Pascoa is a symbolic bread for Easter, and are traditional throughout many European countries Catholic, Christian and Orthodox. There are various different versions, but all seem to have the common theme of a cross, or criss-crossed, shape to represent the crucifixion of Christ. And many times, it encircles one or two eggs, representing rebirth or fertility.

Hoje foi dia de "arrumar a casa"!! Há muito que o meu cesto da roupa suja (Jall - cesto para a roupa com suporte da IKEA) precisava de uma remodelação. Em menos de uma hora ganhou uma nova vida!!

Today was the day to "clean up"! A short time ago that my basket of dirty laundry (Jall - laundry basket with support from IKEA) needed a makeover. In less than an hour it looks like new!

Comemora-se hoje o dia de S. José, para muitos, dia do Pai. Cá em casa tem sido uma correria...entre fazer bolos, decoração e prendas... as crianças não tem tido mãos a medir!

Uma das coisas que fizemos para assinalar o dia de hoje foi um saco para embrulhar uma garrafa a partir de uma camisa velha. Adivinhem de quem?... Sim... do pai!!

Today is St. Joseph´s Day, and for many, Father´s Day. Here at home we have had a hard work ...between making cakes, decorations and gifts ... children has not stopped!

One of the things we did to celebrate the day was a bag to wrap a bottle from an old shirt. Guess who? ... Yes .. the father!
 Happy Father's day!

1 - Para fazer um saco para embrulhar uma garrafa colocar a manga esticada e medir 40 cm / 15.7 '' a partir do punho.

1 - To make a bag to wrap a bottle put the sleeve stretched and measure 40 cm / 15.7'' from the cuff.

2 - Cortar a manga e virar do aveso.

2 - Cut the sleeve and turn on the wrong side.

3 - Coser o fundo.

3 - Sew the bottom.

4 - Para fazer a base do saco, fazer coincidir a costura do fundo com a lateral por forma a obter um triangulo. Medir 2.5 cm / 1'' e marcar.

4 - For making the bag base, you must match the bottom  seam with the side seam to make a triangle. Measure 2.5 cm / 1'' and mark.

5 - Cosa pela marca em ambos os lados da base do sacos.

5 - Sew by the mark on both sides of the base of the bag.

6 - Cortar os cantos deixando uma margem de 0.5 cm / 1/2 '' depois da linha.

6 - Cut the corners leaving a margin of 0.5 cm / 1/2'' after sewing.

7 - Virar do direito e o saco está pronto a ser utilizado!

7 - Turn right and the bag is ready to be used!

Amanhã é dia de S. Patrício!

Em muitos países dia 17 de Março  é um feriado religioso e cultural. Saint Patrick (c. 387-461 dC), é o mais reconhecido dos santos padroeiros da Irlanda, a quem se atribuí a chegada do cristianismo aquela região. Dia de São Patrício foi feito um dia de festa oficial no início do século XVII, e tornou-se progressivamente uma celebração secular da cultura irlandesa em geral.
O dia é geralmente caracterizado pela presença de cultos da igreja, uso de traje verde e do levantamento das restrições quaresmais sobre comer e beber álcool. No dia de S. Patrício as pessoas usam verde uma vez que São Patrício usava um trevo de três folhas para explicar sobre a trindade: Pai , Filho e Espírito Santo.

 Dia de S. Patrício é feriado na República da Irlanda e em muitos outros locais. É também amplamente comemorado pela diáspora irlandesa, especialmente em lugares como a Grã-Bretanha, Canadá, Estados Unidos, Argentina, Austrália e Nova Zelândia, entre outros.
